This theory will be very helpful when studying music videos as it will allow me to see the deeper meaning behind the video. It will also help me with my production as it will help me to try to create a great video with lots of meaning.

Theorist - Saussure
Ferdinand de Saussure was born in 1857, in Geneva Switzerland, he died 55 years later in 1913. Saussure was interested in linguistics, the scientific study of language, specifically language form, language meaning and language in context. His theory was all about semiotics, how meaning is created through various forms of media, Signifiers, what something is, and signified, how the Signifier is used to create meaning.
