The video starts with a three minute clip of Matty Healy entering his room and getting ready, while this sounds very simple it is quite obscure. He enters the room wearing the same costume as he is wearing in the 'A Change of Heart' video, he proceeds to take off that costume, rub the clown makeup off his face and then get ready for the new video. The sequence is filmed as a continuous shot, from a fixed long shot, the placement of the camera allows you to see the whole room. The sequence is in black and white, with the lighting quite dim, causing the room to look undone, the walls are not painted and the whole room looks messy and not put together. Throughout this sequence there is no talking, there is ambient sound to make it seem a bit more realistic. At random intervals an applause track is played, or a laugh track, once he sits on the sofa a track of a deep mumbling is heard, its almost robotic, they are often cut short and abruptly. This is unusual for music videos as this is trying to make your audience on edge. There is a second character in the video who doesn't move an inch throughout the whole thing, this short sequence of the video really makes the audience question what is going on.
The video then cuts to this establishing shot of London, the music starts and and the video appears normal as it is in colour. The simple sans-serif font used in white really makes it easy to read and causes the writing to stand out against the dark background. This shot is almost and introductory shot, showing the audience exactly who's video this is.
The First shot we see of the actual music video is Matty Healy from a side profile, it lingers on him for a few seconds, almost as if they are introducing the character. Low lighting has been used in this shot, to show it is nighttime but also to create and cast shadows, which helps to create mystery around his character.
The next shot is introducing the song title, the font again is simple white sans-serif. It tells the audience which song they are listening to. The shot is also an extreme long shot showing the character walking down the stairs, the lighting is extremely dark, casing shadows on everything. This shot also shows that he is at an apartment block, suggesting this part of the video directly follows on from the first black and white sequence.
The video follows this character adventure through London, upset and constantly drinking. This fits with the lyrics as he is singing about how he can't stand to see someone with someone else. His behaviour in the video is similar to the behaviour of someone who has just broken up with someone and regrets it.
