Theorist - Laura Mulvey

Laura Mulvey was born on the 15th August 1941. She is a British feminist film theorist; her feminism is what has caused her to create her theory of The Male Gaze. Laura Mulvey works in the film industry, and she focuses on the portrayal of women in films. The Male Gaze is the idea that women in the film industry are objectified and sexualised for the benefit of men. This suggests that women are dressed in little clothing to attract a male audience.
