Analysis of Magazine Ad - Kings of Leon, Only by the Night

The font used throughout the poster, is sans-serif and is very modern looking. The underscores make the writing seem new age and very much like computer codes, giving it a modern tech feel. The image is quite striking, it is split into four, each quarter representing a member of the band. They have then placed a bird, possibly an owl or possibly an eagle, this could symbolise strength or mystery. Another interesting thing about the images is that they have markings on them, possibly like security footage, which could connotate danger. The image is a dull green colour making them stand out against the black background. The font used is big and bold, it is eye catching and puts across the message well. The fact 'OUT NOW' is in red could again symbolise danger, almost a listen if you dare message. The poster has a line of text discussing the singles they have released, sex on fire being one of their most successful songs. This will bring attention to the album as if people were a fan of that song because they had heard it on the radio they may want to buy their album. The Advert has a website in the bottom left corner of the poster, this will allow people to visit the website and buy the album. In the bottom right of the poster there is information on the record label so you can visit their website and find out more about Kings of Leon.
