Analysis of Music Video - Beyoncé, Sorry

The video begins with a minute long section of Beyoncé talking, the first line she says is "so what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you've killed me?" This is a very powerful first line to have on a music video it is stating that she is in pain, and that someone has wronged her. This small section of the video is from the Lemonade Film in which music video has a small interlude that tells a story throughout, they link with their title if that section, such as 'Apathy' for this video and 'Anger' for Don't Hurt Yourself.

Serena Williams is featured in this video due to it being about strong black females. The location of filming seems to be somewhere very extravagant, most likely and old house in Louisiana. Serena is descending the stairs at this point in an extreme long shot, she is dressed all in black against a white background making her stand out and caused the audience to focus on her. At this point the song has only just started and is in its intro, it is setting the scene rather than telling a story.

This is the first time Beyonce appears in the video, she is simply just sat in a chair with a lot of attitude. The video is very simple itself, this shot especially, it is simply just a luxurious black chair against a white wall. The video is also in black and white making it seem slightly more artistic.

The video then changes location, it instead is on a old style bus. All the dancers are in sync, but not perfectly, some of the dancers start to late or to early and are not exactly the same as the person next to them, this may represent the idea that everyone is unique and not one thing is the same. The video is very angry, it contains lots of swearing and has a line that specifically says "Middle fingers up", this video however is empowering as the whole meaning behind it is that she is not sorry for what her husband has done and she is not taking the blame.

The last section there are two new locations one outside and one indoors on a set. They both have a choreographed dance that beyonce is dancing too. The editing of this section is very interesting as they have filmed it in a way that allows them to cut shots so the movements are very jumpy, but the lyrics shes singing still flow well.
