Preliminary Task 6 - Evaluation

My group had a few problems when it came to our preliminary task, we were all away when the planning and filming was done for this in lesson time, for various reasons. This made it quite difficult to get our prelim recorded and edited as we had to do this in our own time. Each of us have different time tables and free periods so it took us a while to get it all sorted and able to film. Luckily for us we had a tutor review day on Friday the 1st July and managed to get our filming done. As a group i think we could have worked better together, there were times where people in the group wouldn't show up and we would just have to continue without them. We managed to get our Prelim task finished by the 5th July.
Overall our prelim wasn't the most professional looking and if we had had more time we could have perfected this. I feel as though the editing aspect was the hardest part as it is very hard to get the videos completely synced.
I found this task very useful, we really got a test run of making a real music video, and while doing this we were able to get a closer shot by shot analysis of a real music video. This task is really going to help me when making my music video. I have learnt about the different shots and effects that are often used in music videos and the importance of having the lip syncing properly synced.

Preliminary Task 4 - Editing

We started editing on 4th July and finished on the 5th July. Editing took longer than expected as half of our video footage was in a locked cupboard and my teachers weren't around to unlocked it so we had to come back the next day. Editing our music video was very tricky, it was hard to get the lip syncing completely right. Some shots were slightly out of sync with the official music video. Overall editing took about 2 hours and 30 minutes, much longer than we had expected. The editing was mainly done by Harriet and I.

I feel as though I have learnt a lot while doing this task, it has really helped me to understand how important it is to be able to probably make your lip syncing match to the music track. This task has been very beneficial to me as it has given me a taster of how to edit a real music video, this will definitely help me with my music video.

Prelimary task 3 - Filming

Filming in my group went well. Our group managed to arrange a time where we could all be there to film, as we didn't have any lesson time to film. I think that we worked productively in the short time we had and managed to get all our filming done. This task was really helpful as it allows you to really study a music video in depth as you are recreating it shot for shot. Jessie J's 'who's laughing now?' has a lot of different shots and this was time consuming but has really helped me to understand the different shots and angles used in music videos. We all had to take part in lip syncing as well, this will help me when it comes to my actual video as it allows me to see the importance, if one word is just slightly wrong it can make the whole video seem badly made.

Preliminary Task 2 - Planning

For this task we each got a 20 second section of the video that we had to analyse. We have to recreate the first 1 minute and 15 of Jessie J's 'who's laughing now?'. This is a shot by shot storyline of her video, so we can follow it easier and get the video as accurate as we can.

Preliminary Task 1 - Task Outline and Real Video

For our preliminary task, we have to recreate the first 1 minute and 15 seconds of Jessie J's 'who's laughing now'. My group consists of Harriet, Mia, Sam and I.
