I asked 20 people my questionnaire with an age range of
15-52, from the range of people I asked it was more likely that the younger
generation were the ones who watched music videos more often. I tried to get an
even number of male and female participants in my questionnaire, though it was slightly
more female heavy as I know more girls than I do boys. I found that the split
for who watches more music videos between girls and boys is split pretty
evenly. From all the participants I asked 19 of them watch music videos, though
only 15 of them watch music videos often. When I asked what they usually
watch music videos on I found that most people watch them on YouTube and some
people watch them on music channels such as 4music. I got an array of answers when
I questioned people on the last music video they watched. I had responses from
all different genres. Some examples are The 1975 ‘Somebody Else’, The Lumineers
‘Cleopatra’, 5 Seconds of Summer ‘Girls Talk Boys’ and Jake Bugg ‘Love, Hope and
Misery’. Pop and R&B seem to be very popular genres at the moment, as they
were the most mentioned genres however I did get a few responses stating that Indie
Rock was their favourite genre, which surprised me. Indie Rock would be quite interesting
video to make, it’s an idea I didn’t really think about until this questionnaire.
This questionnaire has really helped me to find what is popular and to get a
basic idea on the target audience.
